Oculus Yacht by Kevin Schöpfer

Oculus is the first luxury yacht from Schöpfer Yachts LLC. This 250-foot vessel was designed by E. Kevin Schöpfer, founder and owner of his namesake company. Designed to accommodate 12 guests in extraordinary comfort and style, Oculus is a long distance cruising yacht capable of speeds upwards of 25 knots.

The exterior styling is representative of the jaw and eye socket bone structure of large oceanic fish and mammals. Featuring a dramatic reverse bow configuration, the yacht’s armature balances an elegant expression of symmetry and structure.

In addition to the bow, Oculus also features a “low rider profile”. This slightly lowered surface allows for new side recreational areas, alternate dockage access and light cruising openness. Lateral retractable side panels close this area when heavier wave action is indicated.

The interior features of Oculus focus on a 12 foot high ceiling in the main salon, a cylindrical double height dining room, central stair and elevator tube, and seemingly anatomical ceiling and floor lighting extensions giving definition to the seating areas.

The second level is the dedicated Owner’s suite. Living areas and bedchambers are divided by a series of four freestanding tubes, which house bath and storage necessities.

In addition to the main common stair, the second Owner’s stair connects to the third level aft private salon and deck / water feature.

The third level also contains the forward pilothouse and separate captain’s quarters. The generous open decks with separate water features are located forward and aft for convenient guest use. Specifications and plans are in the final stages of completion and will be posted at a later time.

Rozen Vases by Marre Moerel

Another great design by Marre Moerel from the Netherlands. The Rozen vases are series of vases that reminiscence the wood stick but only in earthenware ceramic. These vases is still nice on display even without any flower.

Louis Vuitton | A Passion for Creation Exhibition Coverage

The highly anticipated Louis Vuitton “A Passion for Creation” exhibition is now open. Showcasing an comprehensive list of artist compiled by the Fondation Louis Vuitton pour la Création with various mediums of work a huge attraction at the Hong Kong Museum of Art. This remarkable installation includes some names that just run of your tongue with frequent LV collaborators Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince and Stephen Sprouse. While other names include the likes of Jean Michel Basquiat, Paul Chan, Cao-Fei, Yang Fudong, Gilbert & George, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Andreas Gursky, Pierre Huyghe, Jeff Koons, Bertrand Lavier, Christian Marclay, Richard Prince all included. The exhibition is open until August 9, so if you are planning a summer holiday why not head over to Hong Kong.

UEC Iluma By WOHA Architects & Realities:United

In various ways this concept blurs boundaries as it actively merges the concept of a media screen with an ornamental architectural screen filtering air and light and as it blends abstract futuristic shapes with a 1970’s Vegas style.

The Urban Entertainment Centre is a complete entertainment district incorporating theaters, clubs, bars, shopping and public space stacked up into a cube 80m x 80m x 80m. The concept was an Ibiza-Bali club sandwich, with various programmatic levels linked by “tornadoes” – vertical circulation voids that transport people quickly to their destination.

The building incorporates an interactive façade designed by Realities:United (realU) from German where realU created a light and media facade, which had to be effective both during day and night.

The 'screen' facade is formed by a tessellated pattern made up by physical plastic bodies. A regular matrix of fluorescent lamps is superimposed onto (into) this idiosyncratic physical structure. That produces a display screen, which however is vividly distorted by the strong geometry of the individual light fixture and which is peppered by the regular perforations of the physical screen as well as by variations in the arrangements of the light fixture objects.

By intention a complex and ambivalent impression. On one side there is the impression of an ultra large media screen, which is not yet fully there. It appears to be still deep frozen under a surface of ice, cracking and thawing. A herald of a fundamental change of architecture, which is about to transform from a static to a dynamic art.

On the other side the individual blinking crystals carry a strong reminiscence to the look of the “modern city” of the 20th century. The idea of “entertainment” linked to flashing neon signs and excessive baroque carpets of light bulbs with its on-off moving aesthetic. Because there will be change. Being the first development inside the new officially promoted Bugis night life area of Singapore the project anticipates the arrival of several competitors over the next 15 years. Instead of starting a race in latest tech LED glamour, which the project would soon loose to its younger competitors the project concentrates on establishing a superb size and lighting power in combination with a striking visual appearance thereby building the claim of becoming the areas first and lasting land mark.
