Carton Furniture Series by Riki Watanabe

Originally designed in 1965 by Riki Watanabe, the Carton Furniture is made entirely out of folded cardboard. Created for children aged 2 to 5 years old, the idea is to provide children self-training on constructing their own chair & table. The furniture is used in kindergartens and nursery schools to emphasize the idea of freedom.

The Carton Furniture is an easy assembled system using no adhesives, everything is keep together by tabs and notches. Reproduced by Tokyo’s Metropolitan Gallery, Carton Furniture is made of recyclable cardboard material.
